Our Little House

On August 10, 2012 we purchased our first home. It is in Falls Church, VA on a quiet cul-de-sac. Our house is on a little hill with 23 steps to our front door. Visiting us in not for the faint of heart. Our home is a Cape Cod Style that was built in 1952 and has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a den. We have a deck, a small lawn, and a wild hillside in the back. All of the large adult trees on our property provide cool shade in the summer, tons of leaves in the fall, and plenty of squirrel and bird entertainment. Owning a home is a lot of work. We didn't buy a fixer upper but there have been necessary changes we had to make. The list consists of: new bathroom floors, electrical work, attic and crawl space insulation, painting, chair rail installation, new shed, and wilderness clean-up.

It has been fun painting and decorating our home anyway we want. We made our den into a Star Wars Themed TV room with glow in the dark constellations, galaxies, moons, and shooting stars.  We carried across the country antique bedroom furniture that Katrina's father used as a boy. We planted two hydrangea bushes in honor of Katya and Ruby. We also planted tulips in the front. In the Spring, our house came alive with more than a dozen azalea bushes. We also have a forsythia bush, dogwood trees, and a giant oak tree.

Cross Country V3.0

In the summer of 2012 we moved across the country for the third time. We went from Utah to Virginia taking the scenic northern route. Katrina wanted to cross of North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin on her list of states.

In addition to seeing breathtaking landscapes, we also stopped at some amazing religious buildings we had no idea existed in America.  We also found some unexpected gems such as the petrified wood park in South Dakota.  It was a fun and educational trip.

On the road again...
